When doing your own house move i.e. diy, then you must first consider what packaging materials and house moving boxes you will need. This is easier than what most people think. Here at Boxes2move we have put together pre packed packages which are best suited to a certain size of home. This gives you a good starting point to kick off your house move.

Remember when packing large house moving boxes that allow for plenty to be packed within them, the weight of the full packed box could be quite heavy. There is no point in filling lots of large boxes with heavy items if you can not lift them when full. Although the box may take the weight, your back may not. Yes you may be moving fewer boxes but the time and energy it will take to you move them can be counter productive.

Mark each house moving box clearly with what room they are intended for in your new house together with a quick reminder of what is in them. This not only saves time at your new address but also will help keep those stress levels down.

Fixed items like curtains and light fittings etc, ensure that they are taken down and placed in a pile ready for packing. This will save time and help towards the smooth running of your move.

Removal Companies are not normally obliged or contracted to disassemble or assemble furniture so the more you can do yourself in preparation for them, the better. Not only that, if you take it down yourself, you have a better knowledge when having to put it back together again.

Make life easier and take the clothing you have on hangers straight from your wardrobes and hang them straight into our boxes2move wardrobe boxes. Save time and keeps your clothes crease free. Bedding and other clothing items can easily be packed within our king boxes or suitcases.

Stereo equipment and Hi-fi’s can either be packed carefully in our house moving boxes or placed onto your car seats for transferring to your new home. The same goes for your precious tv’s.

Any white goods you may be taking need preparing for transit. Washing machines and dryers normally have a bracket that prevents the drums from moving during transit. Your machines should have been issued with them but if you no longer have them, a quick look online on the manufacturers website can give you a quick answer as to where you can obtain one. Fridges and freezers need emptying, defrosting and cleaning before transit. Do not use detergent.

Pets can sometimes require sedating during the moving process. Remember, it is not just you that is moving home. Your pet is all of a sudden seeing strange people within your house, taking items out of it. Left wandering what is happening, you will be quite sharp as the day goes on and your pet is in unfamiliar surroundings. Using a cage or transit box throughout the day can sometimes be best.
